In case you hadn’t heard, the Winter Olympics start in Vancouver in about four days. To say that I’m not a fan would be an understatement. I have no problem with the athletes or the sports themselves; most of my issues surround VANOC and what I see as wasteful spending going toward putting on a party for rich folks.

Of course, a lot of this has to do with the fact that I’ve lived through one Olympic Games before (1996 in Atlanta), and I’m not too eager to do it again.

In other news, I’ve been trying out a new camera. The more I use it, the more I come to love it. SLR-like results and interchangeable lenses in a compact-size body. I’m going to have to make it mine.

Oh I'm so jealous that you're trying out the GF1. It looks amazing! I've hardly been shooting much at all lately because I can't bring myself to schlep my gigantor DSLR everywhere. The GF1 looks like the perfect solution.

That's precisely why I wanted to check out the GF1. I still enjoy the results I get from my D300, but the actual act of carrying it around wherever I go can be a pain in the neck. Literally. The GF1 is also great for keeping nervous security people off your back as well as for street photography because it looks like a point and shoot camera instead of a hulking great “professional” camera.
