Using Humor in Website Messages

04.21.2009

We’ve been kicking around the idea of using an online collaboration tool at work to unify and simplify communication among the web team. I use (and recommend) Harvest, an online billing application to manage invoicing for a consulting project I’m working on, so when I found out about Co-Op, their collaboration tool, I thought I’d take it for a test drive.

The feature set is robust to be sure, but it was the registration form that reeled me in.

Love this. A slide from a presentation I gave last week said "Having a sense of humor never hurts." As Derrick would say 1UP Co-Op.

One more comment, did you see that the fake company on the Co-Op site is Sterling Cooper? So awesome.

Thank you for this post. We built Co-op for our own, very distributed, team. A big part of our camaraderie is infusing our discussions with humor. We felt that attitude would be perfect in the marketing side of the site. Team communication isn't 100% about getting things done. If you aren't having fun during the workday you are going to burn out quickly. We want teams to bring their sense of humor with them to Co-op, and we hope our marketing pages give folks some of that attitude when they start using the service.

Thanks again for the kind words!
