Here in Vancouver, it’s really easy to take the idea of marriage equality for granted. Let’s use our voices to support sisters, brothers, friends, relatives, and others in the United States who are battling for their lives.
Join the Impact, an ad-hoc international LGBTQ organization is spearheading hundreds of grassroots protests on Saturday, November 15 to show protest recent votes to deny LGBTQ citizens basic civil rights. A Vancouver protest is scheduled for 10:30 am at the Vancouver Art Gallery. If you can, make protest signs with “universal appeal” (i.e., nothing that blames one group or religious organization, and those with a more positive message), bring Canadian flags, rainbow flags, US flags, and yourselves. Organizers are also looking for same-gender married couples who want to speak at the rally.
To contact organizers or ask questions, drop a note to sailing.the.rainbow (at) gmail (dot) com, or see their Facebook page.
