N82 Photo Gallery

After testing the N82 for WOMWorld and thoroughly falling in love with it, I decided to purchase one when the much hated Treo finally bit the dust a while back. I have a Hong Kong version of the phone, which provides no shortage of amusement as I keep finding music files in Chinese hiding in unlikely places on the phone.
Last week I decided to leave my D300 at home and only use the N82′s onboard 5-megapixel camera as my primary camera. I haven’t shot with a point and shoot camera in quite a while (well, since I tested the N82 a few months ago), and it’ll take some getting used to before I can start turning out shots like Ms. Jen’s Urbanista Diaries: Best of Mumbai shots.  Still, here’s a small sampling of shots I took with the N82 last week.

    Hi Cecily,
Here are my three things I do with my N95 or the N82 I used in India:
    1) Turn off the flash. I wish the Nokia camera interface would remember that I want the flash off and only turn it on when I ask it to.
    2) When out on the street, I set it to “Sports” mode rather than the “A” automatic mode. Automatic takes too long to focus and check light and inspect its belly button, etc. Sports mode just shoots. Then I am able to get the action shots or take several right in a row, thus increasing my odds of a good shot.
    3) When necessary, use the “Close Up” mode. I like the close up for anything with under a 12″ focal range. I also use it when I want to have the 1.8 f/stop look, with the front plane object in focus and the background objects all blurry.
I don’t fiddle with white balance or any of the other bits.
Sometimes when I photowalk around my home area, I take both my Nokia and my Nikon FM-3A with me and trade off shooting with both and then later comparing the film prints with the Nokia digital shots.
