A whiter shade of guile - “Blood Diamond joins a growing body of films set in Africa in which good vanquishes evil because morally upstanding white folks ultimately triumph over truly satanic white folks. Meanwhile, the entire black African population kind of takes a back seat and watches the honkies duke it out.”
The forbidden racial zone - “This is not a bad case of racial paranoia run amok. Blacks have been taunted, harassed, beaten and shot at in this community. But the tragic murder of a 14-year-old black girl and the wounding of two other young blacks in the forbidden zone sparked anguish, rage, and finally drew some local media attention.”
Merriam-Webster’s new words - mouse potato, ringtone, gastric bypass and polyamory are just a few of the new additions to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition. A commentary on our culture? Nah….
